5 Minutes Relaxation for the Workplace

This is a 5 minute relaxation exercise for by Inelia Benz.

If at any time of the Exercise you are disturbed, just stop the exercise and continue later. You can restart the exercise at any time.

Sit down comfortably and make sure your back is well supported. Stretch out your arms, and then bring them down slowly so that the palms of your hands are resting gently on your thighs…

If you’re able to, close your eyes now. I want you to become aware of the muscles around your eyes, and relax them.

Now we’re going to breathe in. I’m going to count to 3 while you breathe into your tummy

 

1 – 2 – 3 – Hold

and breathe out

1 – 2 – 3

 

Now I’d like to relax your muscles around your eyes again. Become aware of the muscles around your mouth. And relax them. I also want you make sure that your tongue is not touching the roof of your mouth. Next, I’d like you to relax the muscles on your throat. Relax the muscles on your shoulders. Relax the muscles on your arms.  Relax the muscles on your hands.  Relax the muscles on your chest.  Relax the muscles on your tummy.  Relax the muscles on your bum.  Relax the muscles on your thighs.  Relax the muscles on your calves.  Relax the muscles on your feet.

I’m going to count from 10 to 1. And when I reach 1, you’re going to be in a deep state of relaxation.

 

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. You’re deeply relaxed.

 

We’re now going to work our way back up through the body. Relax the muscles on your feet. Relax the muscles on your calves. Relax the muscles on your thighs.  Relax the muscles on your bum. Relax the muscles on your tummy. Relax the muscles on your chest. Relax the muscles on your shoulders. Relax the muscles on your arms. Relax the muscles on your hands. Relax the muscles on your neck.  Relax the muscles around your mouth. Make sure your tongue is not touching the roof of your mouth. Relax the muscles on your eyes.

 

Next, I’m going to count from 1 to 10. And when I reach 10, you’re going to feel refreshed, completely relaxed and ready to continue with the day.

 

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

 

If your eyes are closed, open them now. You’re feeling refreshed, energized and ready to continue with the day.
